My earliest memories of drinking tea is when I was younger and my mother would give me tea with honey and lemon when I was sick. Naturally, I equated drinking tea as something you do if you have a sore throat, cough or runny nose. Years later, after getting married, I learned that my husband enjoyed drinking tea leisurely without having a sore throat, cough or runny nose! I really thought that was weird but I started joining him and it became a bonding experience.

Some years later we did some work overseas in the Middle East and that is where I discovered a deeper level of appreciation for tea. Over there tea is a lifestyle, a way to build relationships, a way to show appreciation and gratitude. I enjoyed seeing people interact over tea, it was as if it was a labor of love to take the time to brew tea and sit and talk to someone with the purpose of showing gratitude, celebration or making a new friend. I then sought to have tea experiences that could make me more knowledgeable about loose leaf tea and its benefits.

Fast forward some years, a large loose leaf tea chain store went out of business which was almost devastating to me as that was how I supplied my tea cravings. I was in a place in my life where I was looking for something new, I needed to be challenged and prove some things to myself. So, I went out on a limb and thought of starting a loose leaf tea company that would both supply my tea cravings and help me to share quality loose leaf tea selections with everyone from new tea brewers to avid tea drinkers in hopes that they will enjoy it as much as I. Thus, JW Tea Company was born!
